Biography

About

Dr. Gustavo Larach received his Ph.D. in Art History (Modern Latin America/Latino Art History) in 2015 from the University of New Mexico. He holds an M.A. in Art History (Art of the Americas) from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Larach is an art historian specializing in modern and contemporary Latin American art, with a focus on Honduran artistic practices. His research explores the socio-historical contexts of art production and the discursive capabilities of contemporary artistic practices in Central America. Prior to joining NMSU, Larach served as an instructor and researcher at the University of New Mexico, led educational and curatorial initiatives at cultural institutions in Honduras and Mexico, and directed the Alliance Française de San Pedro Sula, where he advanced public engagement with the arts.
