DONATE TODAY

NMSU Aggie art students deserve their art to be seen--help us fund student research! This Giving Tuesday Donate to the NMSU Department of Art to expand accessibility to our facilities by helping to fund more studio safety monitor positions, and to fund research awards to help students send their work to exhibitions (shipping art is expensive!!) and attend exhibitions themselves across the nation and globe!

The generosity of our alumni and friends is crucial to the success of our students and programs, which contribute to the Department of Art’s reputation for creative and scholarly excellence. With a financial contribution to our Department of Art Funds you will provide critical support to our students, faculty, and staff and join a large community of donors who share your passion for the visual arts at NMSU.

It is quick and easy to make a donation. Just scroll down to click the links below and enter your information.

If you would like to discuss other ways to become involved with the Department of Art as a benefactor, please contact Dr. Margaret Goehring, Academic Department Head at goehring@nmsu.edu  or 575-646-1705.

How Your Support Helps

"Graduate school is extremely difficult in many ways, especially when moving from another state. One of these difficulties is cost. It is so helpful to obtain scholarships and awards to help ease some of those expenses. I have extra school expenses as a graduate student with an emphasis in studio art. Knowing that I do not have to compromise my work because I have extra money for supplies allows me to focus on the work instead of the logistics of how to pay for the materials. I am grateful for the funding I have received in the past and I hope our students continue to get this kind of help, it makes a huge difference for our mental well-being."

"Receiving scholarships and support from the Art Department has truly changed my academic experience. As an art student, I spend long hours working on my studio work, so having the opportunity to receive these scholarships every year has taken a great load off my shoulders. Making it so that I don't have to worry about working a ton of hours, and/or graduating with loan debt; the support has allowed me to focus on my artwork to the greatest extent possible. I am extremely grateful to the donors who provide the scholarship funds, as well as to the Art Department staff/faculty who facilitate the process and encourage students to apply every year. In the same light, art materials are costly, and because of the award funds, I have greater freedom to supply my own necessary materials and tools, while also experimenting with new ones (e.g., ceramic glazes, drawing utensils, painting canvases/panels). Thank you all for the blessings, support and encouragement you've given me and other students."

Guinivere Mayse at University of Montreal

"The scholarships awarded to me by the Department of Art have been invaluable to my studies abroad at the Université de Montréal. The funds have supported essential expenses, from airfare to purchasing educational materials, and have also helped cover my tuition fees. This support has not only enabled me to deepen my understanding of French but also exposed me to diverse global perspectives on learning. Through classes in art history, conservation, and history, I am gaining insights into the art world that I would never have experienced at home.

These scholarships have provided me with the opportunity to learn archival and conservation methods at an institution that has contributed significantly to museum best practices. I now have a strong foundation in preservation and understand how to apply it in ways that elevate and protect cultural heritage. Thanks to this experience, I am prepared to contribute meaningfully to museum preservation efforts in New Mexico, aiming to achieve standards well above the minimum requirements.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Without the support of these scholarships, I might have been forced to settle for far less. Instead, my time at the Université de Montréal has empowered me with the skills and insights to pursue excellence and make a lasting impact which is all thanks to the money gifted to me by the Department of Art scholarships as well as the donors who helped fund them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you,"

"Scholarships mean so much to me because it helps me feel like my hard work does not go unseen. I feel that college itself is not hard, it’s everything else that comes with it. Not having money, working jobs that are not in your desired field, and trying to stay involved in extracurriculars is what really causes all the strain. Receiving this scholarship has allowed me to ease up on these factors. So thank you for your generosity. I hope you know that a little goes a long way, and college students can use all they get."

"Receiving scholarships over the past two years, along with support from the Art Department, has been transformative in my development as an artist and student. The financial assistance allowed me to put more focus on my studies and explore new techniques in 3D fabrication and sculpture, especially in public art and site-specific work. Additionally, the encouragement and resources provided by the department and my professors have inspired me to think more deeply about my role in the community and how art can be a catalyst for engagement and dialogue. I am grateful for this support, which has expanded my perspective on art’s importance and encouraged me to push boundaries in my work."
