Biography
About
Éowyn Kerr-Di Carlo joined NMSU from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, where she was awarded a MA and PhD in the History of Art. She is both an art historian and art conservator, specializing in the materials and techniques of painting and manuscript illumination with a particular focus on medieval Italy. Her research interests include ecclesiastical and monastic patronage, the history of material culture, and technical art history, with an emphasis on artistic innovation.
Professor Kerr-Di Carlo also holds an MA and CAS in the Conservation of Paintings from Buffalo State College, and post-graduate diplomas in materials analysis and art conservation from Florence, Italy, having initially obtained a BFA in Printmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute. She previously taught at West Virginia University, the Courtauld Institute, the American University of Rome, and the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute, and is an instructor for the pre-college program in Art Conservation at Sotheby’s, New York. Kerr-Di Carlo’s experience includes working in the Courtauld Gallery’s Print Room and in conservation and collections care in London, Florence, Rome, New York, and Santa Fe. She has held Fellowships from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
