About

Megan Metcalf is a contemporary art historian who brings a practitioner’s perspective to scholarly research. She received her PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2018 and has taught art history at ArtCenter College of Art and Design, Otis College of Art and Design, and UCLA. Her critical writing has appeared in Artforum and Open Space (SFMOMA) and her work has been supported by the New York Public Library and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, among others. Recent publications in Dance Chronicle and an edited volume from Bard Graduate Center provide a preview of her in-progress book about the history of dance and performance in art museums. She is currently the Diana A. and Harry A. Stern Fellow in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
