Submission Deadline: Friday, October 7, 2022

2022 marks seventy years of basic research innovation supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). From GPS and the computer mouse to Nobel Award winning lithium batteries, we have been at the forefront of incredible basic research contributions in science and technology for the Department of the Air Force and the Nation.

To honor these 70 years of innovation and to educate people around the world about the importance of basic research, we invite you to be part of our inaugural Basic Research Art of Science Showcase by submitting your art that is inspired by basic research. Our goal is that your submission will reveal the beauty behind many of the basic research inspired innovations past, present and future that continue to support the United States Air Force and Space Force.

All are welcome to submit artwork, but it may be of special interest to AFOSR grantees as well as educators, students and members of the art and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) communities.

*Special note to Principal Investigators who have received funding from AFOSR:

We encourage you to re-purpose any images that have been part of your AFOSR supported basic research, as artwork. You are also welcome to submit new images, but it is not an obligation of your grant. Instead, it is for fun and for serving as an opportunity for us to highlight the importance of your research with a broader audience.
