Your Donation Counts in the Department of Art!

The Department of Art’s new facility is under construction west of our current building, DW Williams Hall. In July 2019, we will leave the old but beloved gymnasium behind and move into Devasthali Hall, named after our leading supporters, Rama and Ammu Devasthali. The University Art Gallery will be transitioning to the University Art Museum and expanding to include three galleries. Alumni support got us onto the ballot, and then the voters of the State of NM passed the critical GO Bond C in 2016 which propelled us forward; but none of this would have been possible without the continuous and emphatic support of our administration, faculty, staff and students, and generous alumni and community supporters.

To take a look at how the building is coming along, click on this link, it takes a shot of the site every 30 minutes:

This Giving Tuesday we have two focuses for fund raising:

  1. Support for the purchase of new technology and equipment for Devasthali Hall so we can ensure our students are prepared for the technical challenges of the 21stcentury. If donors wish, we can earmark funds for particular media areas, or even pieces of equipment (how about a new 3D printer?)
  2. Scholarship support for our students. The challenges of getting an education are immense and many of our students must compromise their studies in order to pay their rent. Help us support the high achievers attain their educational goals through scholarship support.
