Story from student "craft culture"

“This past Sunday my Craft class and myself had an event on Campus. It was a very fun experience for both my classmates and the people who participated in our activities. We named our community project Craft Culture and we showed the community how to make their recyclables beautiful at the NMSU Earth Day Celebration that was held on April 17th. We had demonstrations that thought how to do a variety of craft projects– including knitting, crocheting, papier-mâché, bead work, and much more. Craft Culture was interested in crafting and sustainability. Our aim was to involve the community and to share the benefits and fun of crafting. The community project was composed of student artists who have been trained in a wide variety of art media. Folks of all ages participated at our Earth Day crafting celebration and added to a collaborative project and made objects to take home.”
