As a designer, artist and writer, Peter Fine explores the role of the designer past, present and future, seeking ways to integrate design history, theory and criticism with practice. He continues work on his book Graphic Design: Sustainable Principles and Practices to be published by Berg Publishers in 2014. In addition, he is currently developing a collaborative book project with the poet Carmen Ginenez Smith that features his collage work.

Professor Fine's research is interdisciplinary and bridges both creative activity and scholarship and seeks to break down disciplinary boundaries. He also publishes and does creative work on the subject of race and representation in the form of contemporary art, publications, curation, lectures and teaching.
