FROM BAROQUE TO MODERN
WITH DR. ELIZABETH ZARUR
Experience Brazilian culture and learn about the art and architecture from colonial to the present in the state of Minas Gerais. Dr. Zarur will lecture on some of the most remarkable baroque/rococo structures decorated with original sculptures and paintings. In addition, we will be visiting museums and parks housing colonial and contemporary sculptures by renowned Brazilian and International artists. You will have the opportunity to study with a master in the arts of conservation/restoration. The trip will include a number of guided tours to studios of artists specialized in the arts of sculpture, metalsmithing, textiles, and metallurgy. Lodging will be in a beautiful country estate furnished with colonial collectable pieces, in a modern hotel designed by Niemeyer and in B&Bs in the historic cities of Tiradentes, São João del Rei and Caraça. This class will take place from May 16-31, 2018 and will cost US$1,898.00 per student for lodging, ground transportation, workshops, and meals. Ticket, passport and visa will be extra.
